The Party Continued
Mason's Birthday Party
We celebrated Mason's birthday with friends and family on the Saturday before I went back to work. The weather was perfect for outside play and the big kids had a lot of fun running around in the backyard and tackling (they were mostly boys) each other while sliding down the inflatable slide. (Thanks Joe and Rebecca for lending this to us!)
Mason got right into opening up his gifts with a little help from Daddy.
Mason got some great outdoor toys that we can't wait to play with this summer.
He really enjoyed playing with the balloons, especially the one with Diego on it. (Mason loves to watch "Go Diego Go" while I get dinner ready every night.)
Instead of a cake I made cupcakes for the party and created a "cupcake cake" with candles. Mason was definitely interested in the candles and seemed to like having everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to him.
The highlight of Mason's day was definitely eating his cupcake. Yummy!!!
Thanks everyone for making this such a special day for Mason!

Thanks everyone for making this such a special day for Mason!Funny Face
Lately Mason thinks that it is quite funny to scrunch up his face and breathe quickly through his nose and I must admit that we find it quite entertaining. Mason and I went to visit my dad a couple of weeks ago (at the peak of this funny face stage) and I managed to capture Mason "in action." Grandpa Day also got quite a kick out of Mason's silly faces!
Walking Wings
Scott claims that I am "a marketer's dream" as I am quick to purchase items based on ads and claims made by manufacturers. I recently purchased some "Walking Wings" for Mason because they are supposed to "help your child learn to walk" while "relieving parents' backpain." Because Mason still is not walking on his own and continually wants us to "walk" him around, I thought that these sounded like an amazing tool. Well, as you can see from these pictures Mason does not have any more balance than he did with us supporting him ourselves and I feel as though I am walking my pet rather than helping my child learn to walk!
I am going to continue using these on occasion to see if we make any progress. If not, they will be passed along to the next friend or family member with a little one learning to walk! Takers anyone?

Our New Routine
Well quite a bit has happened since I last updated this blog: I started back to work, Mason started daycare full time, Mason turned one, Mother's Day, and Scott's birthday (which is today.)
Life is definitely much busier now that I am back working! I think that all three of us found this first week of our new routine a little tiring but I am optimistic that we will soon be "into the groove." Mason LOVES daycare and I am enjoying daily interaction and conversation with adults! I still miss Mason immensely when I am away from him all day but we are making up for that after work and on weekends. So far Mason has not cried once when we have dropped him off at Nancy's (his daycare provider) although we have been warned that this will most likely happen as he gets a little bit older.
Now that I am back to work I hope that I will still be able to update the blog on a fairly regular basis.
