Updates
I bought this shirt for Mason when he was only a few months old thinking that it would be really cute for him to wear once he started crawling. It says: "I make crawling look cool". Yes, the shirt is cute (and so is Mason) but he isn't interested in crawling at all! He is content to sit on the floor and play with his toys. He doesn't even roll to get anywhere. I guess we should be glad that we aren't chasing him all over the house but it does seem as though all other babies his age are crawling everywhere. My doctor has reassured me that crawling is not a milestone and that some babies never crawl. He does like to "walk" around the house with us holding him up under his armpits so maybe he will walk without ever crawling.
Mason had his first ear infection a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully he won't have another until next winter (or ever again if we are lucky!) What an experience! Thank goodness for antibiotics! The downside to all of these colds and illnesses has been Mason's lack of interest in eating or drinking very much. We go back to the doctor in two days for a "weigh-in" to see if he has put on more weight this past month (he only gained a pound in 3 months last time.) Scott and I both think that he feels heavier so our fingers are crossed. Since his ear infection cleared up he has been eating really well. I took advantage of his being sick with this last cold and ear infection to completely wean him. He wasn't interested in nursing because he couldn't breathe through his nose so I just stopped trying to nurse him even when he got over the cold. This isn't exactly what I had planned and I think that I had a harder time than Mason did. I so miss having him snuggle up with me at the end of the day. This was the only time that he was really cuddly and we could have some quiet time together. Yes, I know that we will find new ways to cuddle at the end of the day but it is still such a hard thing to move away from. (And to think that I initially thought I wouldn't make it to 3 months!)
We are getting quite sick of winter (as I am sure everyone else is too!) We bundled up the other day for a brisk "spring" stroll in the -15 degree weather. Mason's stroller is super warm with its wind protector and he doesn't mind getting outside. On the bright side, we are getting a little extra wear out of his winter coats. Believe it or not he is still wearing 3-6 months coats!
Happy Easter!
Mason's first Easter was pretty low key which was fine by both Scott and I. (We know that next year will be a whole different story!) We had a chance to visit with my family on Good Friday and we saw some of Scott's extended family on Saturday at his Aunt Elaine's and Uncle Brian's. (Thanks for a fantastic dinner!) Mason was a little bit cranky (okay a lot) by the time we arrived on Saturday so we didn't even take any pictures. Hopefully we will get copies from others as Mason sat with his Great Grandpa and Grandma Bradley and also his relatives from the East coast. (We crashed the end of Kelsey's bridal shower.) We had a really quick visit with Auntie Karen and she delivered a huge Easter basket filled with all kinds of fantastic things for Mason including these really cute "bunny ears". I had Mason wearing the ears for a large part of Easter Sunday simply because I thought that he looked so cute! Surprisingly he didn't try to take them off of his head.
We actually didn't buy Mason anything for Easter other than his duckie Easter basket. Don't worry, he didn't miss out on anything as he got spoiled by all of his relatives. Thanks everyone!
Mason received some chocolate for Easter but was not permitted to try any of it. (Next year.) He did pose with his chocolate egg and played with it for a little bit and then mommy had some of it.
The ears are now put away until next year. Hopefully he will be excited to wear them!

Playing Catch
We have been teaching Mason how to play catch for the past month or so. At first he would just let the ball roll towards him, hit his legs and then roll back towards us. He is now quite good at catching the ball when it is rolled towards him and we are working on getting him to roll it back to us. We are convinced that his first word will be "ball" as he always says "ba" whenever we hand him the ball. He definitely recognizes the word "ball" as he will look around until he locates the ball (he stares intently at it) whenever we ask him "Where is the ball?" Scott can't wait to get a football into his hands.
Cousins
Mason had so much fun with his cousins Brad and Jack last week. (He also couldn't get enough of their little dog Maggie.) Mason was content to sit on the floor and watch his big cousins running around but in the not too near future he will be running around with them and getting into all of their toys! :)
Swimming Trunks
This picture is especially for Aunt Lorraine in Calgary. The swimming trunks finally fit him and he still has room to grow so expect to see plenty of summer pictures in this cute bathing suit! The picture isn't the greatest as we took it right after swimming lessons when Mason was freezing cold and wanting to get changed.
Please Read Me A Story
As I have mentioned before, Mason loves books. Last week was a treat as Mason saw both of his Grandmas and they each read him a story. Here is Grandma Bradley reading Mason one of his favourite books (at the moment): The Itsy Bitsy Spider. He loves to lift the flaps on each page to see what is underneath; so much so that he now expects every book to have something that he can either touch or lift.
Grandma Day read Mason his new book all about kisses and peek-a-boo, two of Mason's other loves.
Daddy reading Mason his new book that he received from the Carlis. We finally got our Chrismtas visit with them!
